Thor

Season I - played by bkhedr
At the begining of the season Thor has been missing for over a year and presumed dead after a second Ragnarok has brought about the end of Asgard and the Norse Pantheon.

Though the Gods are dead and gone Thor continues to exist in an ethreal, dormant form, until he becomes aware of a deadly threat to all of humanity. The presence of this threat jars him from his dormancy and he resolves to return to life and to Earth to combat the threat and save humanity.

An instant later Donald Blake is reborn on the streets of New York and hastily makes his way towards the sea. He is unaware that another Asgardian spirit, that of Loki, has been reborn with him as a mortal female, and does not notice when she vanishes into the crowded streets.

By the time Blake makes his way to the sea it is already too late and ancient beings called Ifrit emerge naked from the waters and make their way to shore.

Blake nearly panics when he spots the incredibly powerful Ifrit (who are invisible to normal men) but stands up to one of them and demands that they return from whence they came.

The Ifrit shows little fear of Doctor or the Thunder God within, and explains that the time of Gods is past and the time of the Ifrit's master had come.

It quickly becomes apparent that the Ifrit, who are creations of the demonic Elder God Chthon (Thor's uncle by his Mother Gaea) have come to fulfill their end of an ancient pact made between their master and the Sky Fathers of Earth Millenia ago. How a mortal wizard in ancient times had misused Chthon's spell book, The Darkhold, and summoned Chthon into the mortal world. The Skyfathers banded together to battle Chthon and the conflict would have ended in their defeat, as well as the complete destruction of Earth had the Skyfathers not petitioned the Living Tribunal to interfere. The ensuing judgement specified that Chthon and his followers would lurk in the darkness on the edge of oblivion until the time of the Gods had passed, and it was decided that when there were no more Gods, when they had forfeited their claim to Earth by destroying themselves or being destroyed, and when corruption and evil ran rampant; that the time of Chthon would be upon the world and the Ifrit would come forth from the seas to ready the world for his arrival.

Thor had not imagined that Ragnarok would lead to Chthon's rise because he believed the other Pantheons would stand firm. But now with those Pantheons inexplicably gone, presumably forever, Thor's presence is the only deterrant keeping the Ifrit from their dark tasks.

Unwilling to stand aside and see the world fall to evil Blake stamps his cane upon the ground and becomes the Mighty Thor, now a Skyfather, and prepared to fight a hopeless battle against the multitude of Ifrit.

He is given respite however when the Living Tribunal once again passes judgement, decreeing that so long as Thor still walked the Earth the time of the Gods had not trul passed. He however stipulates that The Ifrit would not return from whence they came and that they would in fact enter into a challenge with Thor whereby either side would try to prove its case to the Living Tribunal so that he might pass judgement in their favor. He further stipulates that until a decision is made neither side may engage the other in direct combat.

The Ifrit begrudgingly accept this decision and go about their dark business while Thor, relieved at the opportunity he now has, and well aware that he could not have beaten the Ifrit, buys a penthouse apartment and settles in to think about how he will proceed.

It is at this point, and at his penthouse, that he is confronted by the woman who emerged from the darkness with him. She is Loki, reborn as a mortal female, and she swears that her death and rebirth have changed her and that she has come to offer her assistance against the Ifrit. Thor is shocked to see her as Loki died by his hand and he made no conscious effort to ressurect her in any form. Still she is here and though does not trust her, he realizes that the two have a mutual foe in the Ifrit and accepts her help if not her claim to have repented.

The pair then make their way to the Sanctum Sanctorum seeking the aid of Doctor Strange but are informed by Wong that the Doctor is out. He grants them entry into the sanctum to search for anything that might help defeat their foes and they discover that Strange is in possesion of the original copy of the Darkhold. They realize how valuable this artifact can be in the fight against Chthon and are about to begin work removing the binding spells placed on the Tome when an Ifrit arrives and announces that he has come for the book. A brief battle, against Elder N'Garai demons summoned by the Ifrit, ensues and Loki and Thor are victorious.

Having acquired the Darkhold the pair take it back to Blake's penthouse so that Loki can begin the dangerous task of searching through its pages for some spell or enchantment that will bring them victory.

At this time, the Ifrit, having lost the Darkhold, proceed to make mischief in the way they know best. In ancient times, when the Ifrit walked the Earth, they functioned as Genies and wish granters and it is into this role that they again fall into. But there is a dark catch in that every soul who accepts the Ifrit's offer is doomed to die horribly, their soul bound forever to serve Chthon. With this ancient knowledge kept secret the Ifrit approach suseptible mortals across the globe with their offer and every acceptance is one more notch in their arguments's favor in the eyes of the Living Tribunal.

The first mortal to succumb to the Ifrit's terrible temptation is a man called Elliot Friedman. He is driven mad and kills dozens and has a short battle with Thor before his body burns out and the power he wished for kills him. During this battle a disparate band of heroes gathers to control the damage and protect innocent bystanders from harm. This group quickly agrees to aid Thor and Loki in their quest, and under the Leadership of Clint Barton, they form a new team of Avengers.

The group makes its way to Blake's penthouse where they are confronted by an Ifrit who tells them that his master's victory is inevitable and promises them mercy in exchange for the book. The Avengers refuse the Ifrit's offer, and shortly thereafter the Darkhold is moved to a more secure location in Stark Tower.

Soon after the team makes it first public appearance as a group and the event is promptly crashed by Hydra, The Swordsman, and the Abomination. The attackers are defeated and Abomination is taken into custody while the Swordsman escapes.

The next day the Avengers are sursprised when a desperate Batroc the Leaper arrives at Avengers Tower and explains that his daughter has fallen prey to an Ifrit. Thor and Loki both believe there is no hope for the girl but the Avengers go into action nonetheless. It is at this point, while Loki is alone in the Tower, that she is approached by an Ifrit possessing the body of one Tony Stark's employees. The body quickly burns into nothingness but not before the Ifrit makes Loki another chance to switch sides (which she refuses) and inadvertently reveals to her that a soul ensnared by the Ifrit was not doomed until all three wishes were made.

Armed with this information the Avengers and Batroc manage to save his daughter from herself while defending themselves from a taunting Ifrit and the horde of N'Garai demons at his command.

At this time it is revealed that the Ifrit are paying close attention to a mortal man of great power. The man seems to be of a good heart but also seems to be sad and tormented. The Ifrit make him an offer and he refuses flatly before succumbing to an irrestible urge that leads him towards Avengers Mansion. At the same moment Thor finds himself drawn towards the man (though he does not know it) while Loki, after weeks of fruitless searching, finds herself being drawn a particular part of the Darkhold.

The three seemingly disparate events occur in unison and even as Loki makes a startling discovery Thor and the mystery man are within eyesight of each other. It is at this point that the Juggernaut (inexplicably returned to his full might) reveals himself and buries the unnamed man underneath a brick wall. Thor arrives just in time to see this happen and engages Juggernaut.

However shortly into the battle Thor realizes that he is at a disadvantage so long as he fight Cain in such a heavily populated area, as fear of harming bystanders does not allow him to use his full might. Thor is weighing his options when the bricks behind Cain burst outward and reveal Thunderstrike making it clear that the mystery man had been the lond dead Eric Masterson.
