One Universe Bio - Norrin Radd was one of Zenn-La's most brilliant scientists. Unlike others of his race, Norrin was filled with a yearning to explore the universe. When Galactus came to consume Zenn-La, Norrin swore to become his herald and search space for suitable planets for Galactus to devour. In exchange, Zenn-La would be spared. Norrin's plan was to lead Galactus to only unpopulated worlds, but Galactus wiped Norrin's mind and transformed him into the Silver Surfer. Billions of lives were taken over the years as the Surfer led Galactus to world after world, populated or not.

The Surfer turned on Galactus during the fight for Oa when Green Lantern Hal Jordan sparked the Surfer's memories. Norrin Radd was himself once more. Consumed by guilt over the atrocities he helped cause, the Surfer travels space in an endless quest to redeem himself.
