One Universe Bio - Erik Lensherr was achild who lost his family in the horrors of the Auschwitz concentration camp. Before being killed, the camp was liberated by Allied forces including the Justice Society of America. Over the years, Erik became best friends with Jay Garrick, who personally rescued Erik in the war, and fellow mutant Charles Xavier.

Erik and Charles worked together towards the equality of mutant-kind for years, constructed the mansion in Westchester, and built the super-computer Cerebro. But after witnessing years of abuse and prejudice against mutants, Erik became convinced that mutants and humans could never co-exist. He came to believe that, if mutant-kind did not subjugate humanity, and take their rightfull place as rulers of the world, they would face the same fate as his fellows Jews in Poland during the war. To that end, Erik severed all ties with Xavier and became the mutant terrorist known only as Magneto.
