One Universe Bio - Matthew Murdock grew up in Hell's Kitchen in New York. He was raised by his father, ex-prize fighter "Battling Jack" Murdock. Jack taught his son to value education, strive to improve his life, and look out for others. In a tragic accident, the young Murdock saved a blind man from being hit by an oncoming truck. The radioactive material the truck was transporting splashed onto Matt, robbing him of his eyesight. Yet it granted him powers including extremely heightened senses and an advanced 'radar' sense. Matt's father was forced to return to boxing in fixed fights to pay for his son's bills and education. Refusing to throw a title fight while his son was in the audience, Jack wins the match, but is murdered for doing so.

Using his father's winnings, Matt travels the world, training his mind and body. A blind martial arts master named Stick taught Matt how to use his radar sense as a replacement for his sight. In Stick's camp, Matt met Elektra Natchios and Bruce Wayne. The three became fast friends, but that friendship broke up when both Bruce and Matt started a romantic relationship with Elektra. Matt left Stick's camp sometime later and went to college, then law school. By day, Matt practices law, only defending those he knows are innocent. By night, Matt brings justice to the streets as the vigilante Daredevil, the Man Without Fear.
