After escaping the initial riot that starts following the "Bounty" messages, Cable comes across Deadpool, attempting (and succeeding) to murder Mr. Immortal and claim the winnings. The two exchange 'pleasantries', alluding to a past they once shared, and clashed, Cable not wanting the known psychopath Deadpool to murder any more innocent heroes. After a brief, yet violent exchange Deadpool escapes and Cable heads to Westchester.

Upon arrival at the X-Mansion Cable soon discovers Magneto has taken some of the younger students and allied them to his cause, claiming to be the only protection they have from the Bounties. Cable, furious that his father Cyclops has allowed this to happen, steals an X-Jet and follows his hunch that whoever teleported the group away was a magic user to Latveria, in search of Dr Doom. Upon arriving he finds that Magneto and Doom had allied, albeit briefly, as Doom attacks the master of magnetism Cable grudgingly sides with Magneto and the two defeat Doom.
